Anadromous (Anchorage Brewing Company)

Anchorage Brewing Company decided from the get go that they were going to do things just a little bit differently than the average craft brewery. All of their beers are barrel aged and fermented with Brettanomyces (and other sour yeasts). This allows brewer Gabe Fletcher to take tried and true styles and send them off down whole new pathways created by this oft-unpredictable fermentation process. This is what makes trying this beer all that much more exciting.

Temptation (Russian River Brewing)

I knew my first beer at Russian River would have to be a sour ale, but which one would I choose was the real question. Temptation was the only sour ale on their beer board that I hadn’t had before, so it was my choice numero uno.

Temptation is part of the barrel-aged beer series at Russian River. This sour blonde ale is aged in chardonnay barrels and clocks in with an admirable 7.5% ABV.

Ollolieberry Wild (Bootlegger’s Brewery)

After a minor/unexpected/unnecessary delay I’m back with the rest of my Bootlegger’s Brewery reviews. Beer number 4 was one of my most anticipated beers of the day and thankfully it lived up to the hype. Ollolieberry Wild is an American Wild Ale with a 5.1% ABV.
