Over the past few months I’ve really been on a Bruery kick. It started with first real trip to their tasting room in Placentia, California (I had been there once before to pick up a bottle of Black Tuesday, but I didn’t get to drink anything that time). Then it was a bottle of Hottenroth on a brew day and my roommate sharing with me a glass of his Rueze. And now here we are. I bought this bottle back in 2012 when it first came out and I’ve been sitting on it ever since. I was waiting for the right time to open it and, as they say, there’s no better time than the present…however if that was true then I wouldn’t have sat on it for a year and a half, but I digress.
FRUET was the Bruery’s 4th anniversary beer and was released in May of 2012. It’s an Old Ale with a massive 15.5% ABV and 45 IBUs. Continue reading
Week 3 of MONDAY MORNING QUARTERBACK takes us to the Mile High City of Denver, Colorado. Great Divide Brewery has been serving the people of Denver for almost 20 years and in that time they made quite a few fantastic brews. Today we’ll be discussing their multiple award winning Old Ale.
HIBERNATION ALE is available seasonally (in the winter time, obviously) and comes packed with a warming 8.7% ABV.
For beer number 3 I went back to the Local Fields Series.
VINACEOUS is an Old Ale with 41 IBUs and an 8.7% ABV.
The tap list was chock-full of sour/lambic beers and I couldn’t wait to dive into them. My second beer of the day was SOUR 76. Sour 76 is another bourbon barrel aged beer. This American Wild Ale has an ABV of 7.6%.
Triple Exultation is one of the many certified organic beers from California’s Eel River Brewing company. This award-winning Old Ale has an original gravity of 24.0 P and an ABV of 9.7%.
Old Ben Ale is the third and final beer in the Longshot Homebrew Contest winner’s six pack. This Old Ale clocks in with a seasoned 9% ABV.
