Ah, fall. It’s my favorite time of the year. The weather is getting cool(er), the leaves are changing, horror movies are playing on TV, and breweries are releasing their autumn seasonals. What’s not to love? With that in mind I picked up a fall seasonal six pack from one of the more consistent breweries out there, Widmer Brothers Brewing.

I woke up early Friday, October 7th, loaded up my car and headed north on the I-5. The destination: Chico, California and the second annual Sierra Nevada Brewing Company Oktoberfest. Being that I haven’t been to an Oktoberfest celebration in a while and that the event fit into my schedule (heading to Seattle on Sunday) I thought it was a no brainer to make the stop.

Northern Hemisphere Harvest Wet Hop Ale is an India Pale Ale brewed using hops freshly picked from Eastern Washington. This beer arrives with the hop harvest (usually around September) and clocks in with a 7.2% ABV.
Ladyface Weizenbock is the autumn seasonal from Agora Hills’s Ladyface Alehouse. This Oktoberfest ale was on tap during the Ladyface 1st Anniversary week and has a 8.9% ABV.
Day 3 of LA Beer Week featured several Ballast Point brewery beers on tap at Blue Palms Brewhouse in Hollywood. With an event title like “Hook, Line and Sinker” I couldn’t help but get reeled in. We arrived a little after 8 and were surprised to see that the place wasn’t that crowded. Within seconds we had a table and I had my first drink in my hands….Sculpin IPA (on nitro).
