Hangar 24 is a brewery that I quite enjoy. However, I don’t really buy their stuff all that often. I’m more than happy to make the 90+ minute drive to the brewery whenever they’re having a special event, but I tend to avoid their beer when I see them on tap/shelves. I purchased this beer when we were trying to put together a home brew recipe for a porter we were thinking of brewing. We ended up going more of a stout route, so this beer didn’t get drank on recipe night. That just means more beer for me.

Since the growler fills were limited to only certain beers I figured I would buck their standard fare and go for one of the special release beers that was available. Being that we were their for the 4th Anniversary Celebration I figured it was fitting to get the growler filled with their 4th ANNIVERSARY ALE.

This past Saturday was the 4th Anniversary celebration at Hangar 24 Craft Brewery in Redlands, California. It had been three years since I had been to the brewery, so I just in the car with a couple of my roommates and we headed east.

For beer number 5 (I didn’t take notes on #4) I got in line with and waited patiently for the release of their big barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout. And even though they only gave out 6 oz. pours, boy was it worth it!
PUGACHEV’S COBRA is a part of their Barrel Roll Series. This Russian Imperial Stout has a surprising 85 IBUs and a massive 16.5% ABV.
For beer number 3 I went back to the Local Fields Series.
VINACEOUS is an Old Ale with 41 IBUs and an 8.7% ABV.
