Dark o’ the Moon (Elysian Brewing Co.)

PUMPKIN BEER #11

Yay! Free Beer! At this point of the evening the fine folks from Elysian brought out the hammer and tapped into the ‘Great Pumpkin‘. For those of you who don’t know the Great Pumpkin was a very large pumpkin that had been hollowed out and filled with their DARK O’ THE MOON Pumpkin Stout. I didn’t hear how long the beer had been in the pumpkin, but I can tell you it was worth the wait. Continue reading

Pumpkineater (Howe Sound)

PUMPKIN BEER #9

When it came time to pick beer number 9 I decided to get in line (since it was quite long) and decide by the time I got up to the front. Obviously what I did was not make up my mind until the nice young lady was asking me what I would like. It came down to either HOP GOBLIN or PUMPKINEATER. I didn’t know what to do, so I just blurted out “Pumpkineater!” and handed over my ticket. Well played, good sir. Well played. Continue reading

Extra Special Butternut (Snoqualmie Falls Brewing)

PUMPKIN BEER #8

There was two reasons I went for this beer: 1. I’m a fan of the ESB beer style and 2. I’ve never had a beer with butternut squash. Continue reading

La Parcela 2008 (Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales)

PUMPKIN BEER #7

After a few other beer styles to cleanse the pallete, I figured it was time to come back to the sour beers. LA PARCELA was available in both the current vintage and a 2008 version, so I decided to go for the older of the two. Continue reading

Pumking (Southern Tier Brewing)

PUMPKIN BEER #3

With two less than spectacular sour pumpkin beers under my belt I decided it was time to try I beer that I’ve been looking forward to for a couple years now. Ever since I first discovered New York’s Southern Tier Brewing Company I’ve made it my mission to try every one of their beers that I can get my hands on. So when I saw that the GPBF was serving their autumn seasonal PUMKING I knew it had to be one of my first beers of the day. So when time came around for beer number three I think you can guess what I picked.  Continue reading

Mr. Yuck (Elysian Brewing Co.)

PUMPKIN BEER #1

I’m always searching for new and interesting beers and when I learned there was going to be sour beers at Great Pumpkin Beer Fest (GPBF) I knew that I had to try some. With my newfound love for sours I keyed in on the sour beers being offered and selected MR. YUCK as my first beer of the day. I figured if I’m gonna go with a sour I might as well pick a beer from the host brewery, Elysian. This sour pumpkin ale has 4.8% alcohol by weight and 5.9% alcohol by volume. Continue reading

Night Owl Pumpkin Ale (Elysian Brewing Company)

I know, I know, I’m a little behind on my reviews.  This beer is from last autumn and I’m just now getting to it.  Night Owl is the autumn seasonal from Elysian Brewing Company.  It has a meager 20 IBUs and 6.0% ABV.
