Even though they haven’t all been hits, I’ve enjoyed what Samuel Adams (aka The Boston Beer Company) has been doing with their new line of Limited Release beers. As you would expect, they jumped on the autumn seasonal band wagon. And even less shockingly, they brewed a Pumpkin Ale.
FAT JACK DOUBLE PUMPKIN ALE is a Pumpkin Ale (duh) with an 8.5% ABV.
Stone has been making some pretty good collaboration beers with a variety of different breweries/brewers lately and what better way to keep this tradition going than by making a pumpkin ale! I may be wrong, but I think this is the first time that Stone has brewed a pumpkin ale (or even an autumn seasonal), but Elysian and The Bruery are both known for their great autumn beers (Night Owl and Autumn Maple, respectively) so I have faith in this beer.
La Citrueille Celeste De Citracado is a pumpkin ale brewed in collaboration between Stone Brewing, The Bruery and Elysian Brewing. It has a mild 5% ABV.
There’s two things that always grab my attention on a beer label: “pumpkin” and “oak”. I’ve always been a sucker for pumpkin beers and over the past couple years barrel aging has been creating some intriguing flavor profiles in the beer world. OAK JACKED IMPERIAL PUMPKIN ALE is part of Uinta Brewing’s “Crooked Series”; a series of big/imperial ales available in capped and corked bottles. Unlike some of the other beers in this series, Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale has seasonal availability.
Oak Jacked Imperial Pumpkin Ale is a pumpkin ale aged in oak barrels with 39 IBUs and a hefty 10.31% ABV. Continue reading
Ever since I went to the Bootlegger’s 3rd Anniversary this past April I’ve become a big fan of their work. Every time I see one of their new beers on the shelf/on tap at a bar I have to give it a try. Their autumn seasonal, PUMPKIN ALE, was no exception.
Pumpkin Ale is a pumpkin ale (duh) with 17.8 IBUs and a 6.1% ABV. Continue reading
Uinta Brewing Company just started showing up in my area last summer. There labels are always simple, but noticeable, with their overall aesthetic going for consistency and not flashiness. Their autumn seasonal, PUNK’N, is part of their organic line.
This “Harvest Pumpkin ale” has a 4% ABV, 11 IBUs and is available August-October.
There’s something fancy about a bottle with a foil-wrapped cap. It’s similar to those with the traditional cage & cork, they just give off a more sophisticated vibe (even if the beer doesn’t live up to it). SMASHED PUMPKIN is one of those beers.
Part of Shipyard’s “Pugsley’s Signature Series”, Smashed Pumpkin is an autumn seasonal comes a 9% ABV. Continue reading
DAY #3 part 1 THE GREAT PUMPKIN BEER FEST
I woke up Sunday Morning and immediately jumped online to find the Eagles vs. Bills game. It quickly became apparent that Philly was not gonna win this one, so I wasn’t too concerned that I was gonna have to miss it (the first game this year I didn’t watch).
With myself showered and ready to greet the day I stepped out in to the early morning drizzle in search of something to eat. After consulting my phone I found a nice little diner called Planet Java and made my way there. As I ate my breakfast I was forced to watch the Giants vs. Seahawks game (which NY ended up winning, boo). Continue reading
