Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Tripel (Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie)

Ladyface Alehouse unveiled a bunch of one-off and “special” beers for their 1st Anniversary celebration. One of these releases was the Chardonnay Barrel-Aged Tripel. This limited release has an ABV of 7.5%.

CBAT pours a murky orange, with no light getting through. There was no head to speak of, but this may be the bartender’s fault.

The smell is like tangerine, orange soda, white wine and wood. As it warms I get an odd cat-like scent. Weird.

Now this is a an odd/tasty beer. Taste is like a slightly flat off-brand orange soda aged in wood. Mild white grape and lemon flavors are present in the backend.

Mouthfeel is light and practically evaporates from your tongue. As it warms the mouthfeel reminds me of a cooling hot tea.

I really enjoyed this beer. It was very well-balanced and easy drinking. The wood wasn’t overpowering and blended splendidly with the wine and traditional tripel flavors.

Overall: 8 out of 10

As a TRIPEL: 8 out of 10
