Sierra Nevada Pale Ale (Sierra Nevada Brewing Company)

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is the flagship beer of Chino, California’s Sierra Nevada Brewing Company.  This American Pale Ale has 37 IBUs and a 5.6% ABV.

Our most popular beer, Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, is a delightful interpretation of a classic style. It has a deep amber color and an exceptionally full-bodied, complex character. Generous quantities of premium Cascade hops give the Pale Ale its fragrant bouquet and spicy flavor.

The beer pours a delicious amber color with orange highlights.  The head is a ¼ inch of resilient foam.  Carbonation bubbles can be seen floating to the surface.  The head eventually fades to a film, leaving behind plenty of lacing.

The name of the smelling game is piney hops.  Hay and bready malts make up the backbone of this hoppy brew.  The hops bite with the intial drink, but the pininess soon mellows into an almost brown sugar like sweetness.  The hops and malts eventually blend as the beer settles, with neither flavor commanding any more attention than the other.

There is a noticeable airiness in the mouthfeel, with a stickiness/oiliness that is often present in the style.  There is also mild clinging in the liquid.

Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is one of the first and still one of the best American/West Coast Pale Ales on the market.  It’s an easy drinking, albeit hoppy pale ale that is perfect for a warm summer day.  After all these years Sierra Nevada Pale Ale is still a mighty fine brew.
